Meet the team!

Jen McKey (she/her)

Principal Investigator, Assistant Professor

Growing up, I was always fascinated with photography and imagery. In my university years, I discovered developmental biology, and was instantly captivated by the visual nature of this field. My favorite thing about developmental biology is that we can address biological questions in the context of a whole organism or organ, and I love applying advanced microscopy methods, such as 3D confocal and lightsheet imaging, to answer these questions.

I am passionate about our work at the intersection between Developmental and Reproductive Biology, and I thrive to produce research that will improve our approaches to women’s reproductive health.

When I am not in the lab, I love to spend time painting, or taking pictures, or any other crafting activity that seems fun at the moment.

Jenn Jaime (she/her)

Post-Doctoral Scholar

Hi, I’m Jenn and I’m a postdoc in the McKey Lab. I grew up in Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver in the Spring of 2019 before joining the Neuroscience Graduate Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I completed my PhD training in the lab of Dr. Sue Moenter, where I studied the intrinsic properties of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons across development and how these properties are altered in a mouse-model of polycystic ovary syndrome. My continuing interest in reproductive biology across development brought me to the McKey Lab, where we study how female fertility and reproductive longevity is established.

In my free time, I like to read, watch sports, hike and spend time with family and friends.

Lily Folts (she/her)

Graduate Student, CSD program

Hi, I’m Lily and I’m a graduate student in the Cell Biology, Stem Cells, and Developmental Biology program! I graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in the Spring of 2020 and worked as a research technician at the University of Maryland School of Medicine for two years before joining the Biomedical Sciences Program here at CU Anschutz. My interest in women’s reproductive health and developmental biology led me to the McKey lab where I study fetal and perinatal determinants of female fertility.

In my free time, I like to hike, go to concerts, read, and spend time with my friends.

Anthony S. Martinez (He/Him)

Lab Manager

Hello, I’m Anthony and I am presently the lab manager here at the McKey lab at CU Anschutz Medical Campus. I graduated from Colorado State University in the summer of 2023 and garnered experience in undergrad. working in various labs including SiVEC Biotechnologies, a photosynthesis research team and the Natural Sciences Department at Front Range Community College. I have a varied interest in biology and am incredibly lucky to have found the McKey lab as it combines biological research into an area with many unanswered questions with cutting edge techniques. In the McKey lab we combine sub-cellular analysis with a macroscopic whole organ approach granting us great insight into the incredible organ that is the ovary.

In my free time, I enjoy antiquing, reading books and enjoying a good meal with good people.
